First
Visit
We are excited and anxious to meet with you and answer your questions during your first visit with us. Your initial appointment will consist of a thorough examination and a discussion of potential treatment options. This important 30 minute screening visit will give us valuable insights into your or your child's orthodontic needs. We know your time is valuable, so to expedite treatment, we may also reserve time following the exam for diagnostic records to be taken. The records include x-rays, photos, and impressions for study models, and are necessary prior to developing a detailed treatment plan. This additional appointment is approximately one hour long; however, it is not necessary for parents to be present the entire time. If you would like to run errands or go back to the office we will be happy to call you when your child is ready.
There are several questions that all potential orthodontic patients and parents want answers to. During the initial examination for each patient, we will address each question and provide clear and reasonable answers. Ample time is always allowed for questions to be asked.
- Is there a problem that orthodontics can address?
-
Is treatment needed now or is the timing such that it should be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption, or other factors are reconciled?
- What treatment procedures will be used to correct the problem?
- Do any permanent teeth need to be removed?
- How long will treatment take?
- How much will it cost?
- How will I pay for it?
While we can often answer these general questions about what treatment is needed during the initial examination, specific questions will need to be answered after careful analysis of the diagnostic records. We feel it is important to take the time to analyze each patient's specific needs and feel that this in-depth planning leads to superior results and higher patient satisfaction.
A consultation visit is scheduled to discuss treatment options, timeframes, and financial arrangements. Our patients leave the office with a clear understanding of their specific needs, what the treatment will consist of and how long it will take. Also, any other questions are answered during this more comprehensive discussion.
Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your first visit:
- Any panoramic x-ray taken within the past 6 months.
- If you have orthodontic benefits, bring your insurance card. By providing this information at the first visit we will be able to give you an estimate of your out-of-pocket expense.
